“The Miracle” is Queen’s thirteenth studio album and was recorded at the Olympic and Townhouse studios in London and at the Mountain Studios in Montreux between January 1988 and January 1989.
The production was carried out by Queen and David Richards, who also became a sound engineer together with several assistants, including Justin Shirley-Smith. After spending a lot of time working with the band on various projects, David was already a fixture in Queen’s sessions and would remain so until 1991, when Freddie would record his lastest songs.
Before “The Miracle”, Queen’s members had spent 1987 separately. Brian produced songs for artists and their friends. Freddie recorded the “Barcelona” album with Montserrat Caballé, and Roger founded “The Cross” band.
The separate year was very beneficial, as everyone returned to the new project with renewed vigour and many fresh ideas. Queen recorded thirty songs, many more than those they needed for “The Miracle”, and it ended half. Some were published as the B side of singles while others are still unpublished in Queen’s archives.
The cover of this album has always amazed me! They did all of that without photoshop which is amazing .
