Is This the World We Created …? is a song by the British rock band Queen. It is the ninth and final track of the album The Works, which was released in 1984. The song was written by Freddie Mercury and Brian May in the city of Munich. The reason for writing this song was that Mercury saw a news story about poverty in Africa. The song was written as a last minute replacement for There Must Be More to Life Than This, which later on Mercury’s solo album Mr. Bad Guy appeared. Originally, the song would become a piano ballad, but the piano was replaced by May’s acoustic guitar. Mercury and May played the song at the conclusion of Live Aid in 1985.
